Abstract:
This paper describes the evolving C4ISR modeling architecture being implemented by Lockheed Martin Naval Electronics and Surveillance Systems-Surface Systems based on the use of HLA federations. The benefits of using HLA federations to evaluate C4ISR architecture and system design are discussed. These benefits include reduced development time, simulation modularity and reusability, and the ability to provide representative operating conditions for the system models. An illustrative example featuring sensor, communications, and force-on-force simulations is presented. Potential uses for similar federations are discussed.
