Overview of Driving Simulator Research Capabilities at The University of Central Florida

Submitting Author: Dr. Harold Klee

Abstract:
In the decade of the 1990's, the University of Central Florida operated a driving simulator which was used primarily for research in simulation and human factors. In early 2002, a new driving simulator was acquired with significantly more capabilities, most notably a motion platform, additional video channels and extensive traffic scenario software for creating controlled experiments. This paper describes the simulators and the research conducted with each one, with emphasis on two recent studies involving the new simulator.
